Hwang Revealed in SOULCALIBUR VI!
Hwang is revealed as the last DLC character of SOULCALIBUR VI Season 2. He is returning after 14 years since his last appearance in SOULCALIBUR III: Arcade Edition, and with a brand new costume and moveset. His trailer followed the EU West section of the SOULCALIBUR Online Challenge tournament that took place on November 28th.
A Short history of Hwang:
Hwang Seong-gyeong made his first appearance in the very first SoulCalibur game, Soul Blade/Edge in 1995. He made appearances in the following SOULCALIBUR games, SOULCALIBUR (Dreamcast) and SOULCALIBUR III as a bonus character and as a full-fledged character with a unique moveset in its arcade version. As SOULCALIBUR VI was released back in 2018, many fans requested for Hwang/Yun-Seong or the Korean sword style to come back as DLC as VI is a “remake”/reboot of SOULCALIBUR on the Dreamcast. His role in the series’ original timeline story is that he is a Korean swordsman who served as a coast guard tasked to find the “Sword of Salvation”/Soul Edge while an invasion by the Japanese is imminent.
